As a dog lover, you usually have a favorite breed, but that's why it's still fun to learn more about some of the many different dog breeds that exist in the country.

Below we have compiled a list of the 10 most popular dog breeds in Denmark. Who knows, maybe your dog breed is on the list too? 10. Dachshund


The dachshund is the first dog on the list and ranks as the tenth most popular dog in Denmark. It is a wonderful companion dog with lots of energy and love to share, but also a dog breed known for being stubborn and alert.

Despite the dachshund's small size, it is not afraid to express its opinion and therefore cannot always get along with other strange dogs. However, they are very loyal dogs and very popular both as family dogs and as hunting dogs. Dachshunds are born hunters, and as the name reveals, they love to dig.

The dachshund comes in three different versions: the smooth-haired, the rough-haired and the long-haired. If you do not have time for fur care, you should therefore choose the smooth-haired and not the long-haired, which requires more time to keep the fur healthy. The dachshund comes in many colors. Some are black, others brown or sand-colored, and they can also be a mixture.

Since the dachshund is so small and long as a dog, you have to pay attention to its back. It should preferably not go up and down stairs too much or jump up and down on the furniture. Chihuahuas are faithful, empathetic and intelligent dogs that are, among other things, very popular as therapy dogs in the United States in particular. With a chihuahua you get an amiable playful dog with a strong protective instinct. They may have a tendency to bark a lot and should therefore be trained early on to learn to get along with other animals, as well as both adults and children.

The size of a chihuahua is not measured in height, but in weight. The ideal weight is between 1.5 kg and 3 kg. Besides the chihuahua dog's small size, this breed is easily recognized by the large flapping ears and large alert eyes.

There are two types of fur in a Chihuahua:

So we are almost halfway through the top 10 list! In sixth place we find the beautiful graceful English cocker spaniel. It is both a much-loved family dog ​​and a skilled hunter. They are incredibly sharp with their noses and run tirelessly through thickets and thickets to hunt the birds up for the hunter to shoot.

An English Cocker Spaniel is an energetic, happy and friendly dog ​​that is very contact-seeking. It loves both people and other animals and is very loyal and cuddly. Therefore, the English Cocker Spaniel is not the best guard dog.

We are back to a smaller dog breed, which takes second place on the list. It's a Bichon Havanese. The small and sociable dog is particularly characterized by its long and beautiful coat, which requires a lot of care. And then we reached the top of the list. Maybe you already guessed it. It is the Labrador retriever that we find at the top of the list of the most popular dog breeds in Denmark.
